FINANCIAL INCLUSION INDICATORS – Q2 2026

Financial inclusion indicators for the second quarter of 2026 provide a detailed analysis of access to, availability and use of financial services in Mozambique, considering geographical and demographic factors, broken down by gender and area of residence (urban and rural).
The report also provides information on the distribution of financial service access points across the country’s 154 districts.
During the reporting period, the number of mobile money agents grew by 5.8%, further expanding the digital financial services network. Meanwhile, the number of bank branches, ATMs and POS terminals declined slightly, by 0.4%, 1.1% and 0.4%, respectively.
Regarding access indicators, the number of bank accounts increased by 1.3%, while the number of mobile money accounts rose by 4.1%.
As for usage indicators, the number of bank cards grew by 3.3%, while the credit-to-GDP ratio remained stable. Deposits also posted positive growth, with the deposits-to-GDP ratio increasing by 0.8 percentage points and the volume of deposits per 1,000 adults rising by approximately 1.5%.
