BANK GOVERNOR MEETS WITH BRANCH DIRECTORS

Today (7), the Governor of the Banco de Moçambique, Rogério Zandamela, officially opened the IV Annual Meeting with Branch Directors on the Island of Mozambique, to discuss the payments system and the job description manual, which must adapt to the new requirements of the branches, among others.

The Governor of the Bank made the opening speech following the interventions by the Board Member responsible for the branches, Maria Esperança Majimeja, who stressed the strategic importance of the meeting towards fulfilling the central bank's mission, and the Director of the Nampula Branch, Juvêncio Nhaúle Júnior, who commended the Bank's top management for choosing to host the event on the island of Mozambique, an important tourist-cultural hub of the country.

During the event, Rogério Zandamela stated that the meeting makes for a new management instrument aimed at “learning the existing concerns at the management and board level, and obtaining inputs that will substantially contribute towards the good performance of our institution in its entirety”.

Moving forward, Zandamela referred to the recommendations made at the last meeting in Tete, namely the revision of the recruitment and selection regulations, in order to further deepen the participation of organizational units in the process, as well as simultaneous application tests, without having applicants necessarily move from one point to another.

The Governor also mentioned other recommendations regarding the streamlining of cash processing centers and using a software to monitor the life cycle of contracts.

The Board Member for Banking Operations, Issuance and Inspection of Payment Systems, Maria Esperança Majimeja, Advisors to the Governor and Director of the Banco de Moçambique were in attendance at the IV Annual Meeting of Branch Directors.
