Law No. 15/2026 of 2 July, which repeals Law No. 2/2008 of 27 February, modernises the existing legal framework, strengthens the supervisory and oversight powers of Banco de Moçambique, promotes the legal certainty and operational soundness of payment systems, encourages responsible innovation, and ensures that the National Payment System is aligned with international best practices.
