BANCO DE MOÇAMBIQUE HOLDS LECTURE ON MONETARY POLICY AT UNIZAMBEZE

Yesterday (2), the Banco de Moçambique held a lecture on monetary policy in Mozambique and presented the Economic Outlook and Inflation Forecasts (CEPI) Report to the academic community of the Zambeze University, headquartered in Beira, Sofala province.
Delivering the opening address, the Director of the Communications Office, Pinho Ribeiro, said that presentation of the CEPI report is coupled with the theme of monetary policy in Mozambique since, recently, the Bank launched the celebrations allusive to its 50th anniversary and the 45 years of the Metical, on May 17 and June 16, 2025, respectively.
The presentation on monetary policy was made by the Assistant Director of the Economic Research Department of the Banco de Moçambique, Pedro Munguambe, who, at the event, stressed the importance of the implementation of monetary policy by the central bank, in order to ensure the materialization of its key mandate to keep inflation low and stable, which translates into the preservation of the purchasing power of our currency, the Metical.
From his side, the Director of the Economic Research Department, Carlos Baptista, presented the drivers of the decisions taken by the Monetary Policy Committee, highlighting the prior assessment of the economic outlook at home and abroad, as well as inflation forecasts and the risks associated thereto.
In attendance at the event were students and professors of Zambeze University, and managers, advisers and officials from the Banco de Moçambique.
