Friday, 15 November 2024

Today (15), the Governor of Banco de Moçambique, Rogério Zandamela attended the inauguration of the Tete City Metical Square erected by the institution, in partnership with the Tete City Council.
In his address, Rogério Zandamela stated that the undertaking is part of the institution's vision of strengthening the Metical, the Mozambican currency and one of the symbols of sovereignty and collective history, as well as promotion of financial literacy, thereby contributing to improving levels of financial inclusion.
The Governor added that the effort unequivocally reflects “the Bank's commitment to its mission of promoting a sound, modern and inclusive financial system.”
For Rogério Zandamela, the square renders an opportunity for citizens to network and its premises allow for the promotion and dissemination of education and culture, events, exercise, as well as leisure and rest.
Wrapping up, the central bank Governor called on the Tete city citizens to value and preserve the grand undertaking by using it responsibly and sustainably, in order to benefit future generations.
For his part, the Tete Mayor, César de Carvalho, thanked the Banco de Moçambique, especially Governor Rogério Zandamela, for making the right decision that culminated in the construction of the Metical Square in the “cidade das quininas”, which, in addition to the strengthening the Metical, will certainly add to the city’s landscape and urban beauty.
César de Carvalho was particularly pleased that the Square included a library, a service that, as he referenced, “was long overdue to the citizens of the city, who are eager to learn.”
Like the other squares, the Tete City Metical Square also includes sports equipment, public toilets, streets, paving and landscaping, but stands out for having a library with a capacity for 80 users, equipped with a bibliographic collection with over 2000 literary works.
In attendance at the event were the Board Member for Administrative Services and Property, Silvina de Abreu, managers and staff members of the Bank, as well as City Council staff members.
