The financial inclusion indicators for the third quarter of 2025, available in this section, provide a detailed analysis of access to financial services in Mozambique, taking into account geographic, demographic and usage aspects, with disaggregation by gender and by area of residence, urban and rural.
The report also presents data on the distribution of financial service access points across the country’s 154 districts.
During the reporting period, the total number of access points recorded a positive variation of 7.1%, driven mainly by an 8.6% increase in mobile money agents and a 3.7% increase in microcredit operators.
The following developments are also highlighted:
- The number of mobile money accounts per 100 adults increased by 4.3%. This growth mainly reflects the simplification of onboarding and usage processes, interoperability between mobile money institutions and banks, and strengthened outreach and promotion of related products and services; and
- The number of banking agents declined significantly, by about 70.6%, as a result of some commercial banks discontinuing this business model.
