This year, the Banco de Moçambique held various activities and events nationwide from March 17 to 23 to mark the 13th edition of the Global Money Week (GMW).
Celebrated under the theme "Think Before You Follow, Wise Money Tomorrow," the highest point of the event was on March 20 at the Inclusive Education Resource Center field in Tete city, where the main ceremony took place.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Provincial Directorate of Education and was attended by approximately 300 students and nine teachers from Francisco Manyanga, São Tiago Maior, and Samora Machel de Moatize secondary schools.
The program included debates, lectures, quizzes, and a theatrical performance. At the end of the event, the winning groups were awarded school kits containing various supplies. Additionally, a fair was held to promote and showcase financial products and services for children and young people, featuring credit and mobile money networks institutions operating in Tete.
In his opening address, Bento Baloi, Director of the Tete Branch, pointed out that the campaign aims to raise awareness, especially among young people, about the importance of managing money safely and making responsible, informed financial decisions while considering potential risks in the financial system.
Similar events were held nationwide under the coordination of other branches of the Banco de Moçambique.
